Bayern Munich maintained their perfect start to the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, as Luis Diaz scored twice before being sent off in a fiery contest at the Parc des Princes.
The Colombian forward struck early, capitalising on a PSG mistake to open the scoring inside four minutes after Michael Olise’s initial effort was blocked.
Bayern could have doubled their advantage soon after, but Aleksandar Pavlovic’s shot deflected narrowly wide.
PSG briefly thought they had levelled when Ousmane Dembele bundled the ball home, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
The Frenchman’s evening worsened moments later as he was forced off injured, compounding the hosts’ frustration.
Diaz punished PSG again before the break, dispossessing Marquinhos and rifling in a stunning second off the post to put the German champions in firm control.
Yet he quickly undid his brilliance with a rash tackle on Achraf Hakimi that earned him a straight red card, leaving Bayern to play the second half with ten men.
PSG pushed to exploit their advantage after the interval, with Joao Neves pulling a goal back from Lee Kang-in’s cross in the 74th minute.
However, Manuel Neuer was at his defiant best, producing several sharp saves to preserve Bayern’s lead.
Despite relentless late pressure, Vincent Kompany’s men held firm to secure their 16th consecutive win across all competitions, ending PSG’s eight-game unbeaten run.
