Enyimba FC secured a much-needed 4-1 victory over Mozambique’s Black Bulls in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, ending a 10-game winless streak across all competitions.
Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye marked his continental debut for the club with a crucial goal, while Joseph Atule, returning from injury, netted a brace to inspire the team at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Atule opened the scoring in the 6th minute, but the visitors quickly leveled. Ifeanyi Ihemekwele restored Enyimba’s lead before halftime.
Ideye, introduced as a substitute in the 61st minute, added a third six minutes later with Atule providing the assist. Atule sealed the emphatic win with a stoppage-time goal.
Despite the victory, Enyimba remains at the bottom of Group D with four points. They face Al Masry next Sunday in Uyo before a final group-stage clash against Zamalek in Egypt on January 19.
The win also marked Stanley Eguma’s first continental triumph as head coach, and the nine-time NPFL champions will look to build momentum both in Africa and domestically, where they sit ninth in the league table with games in hand.
