CARRICK WAITS ON FUTURE AFTER UNITED’S TOP-THREE FINISH.
Michael Carrick says clarity over his future at Manchester United F.C. will come “in a
few days” after steering the club to a third-place Premier League finish with a 3-2 win
over Nottingham Forest F.C.
The interim boss, who took charge in January, has led a strong late-season surge
that secured Champions League qualification and capped a significant turnaround at
Old Trafford.
Carrick insisted attention was on finishing the campaign strongly rather than his own
situation, as speculation grows over a permanent appointment.
“Over the coming days, there’ll be clarity in the situation,” Carrick said.
He praised his squad’s progress and highlighted the importance of ending the
season on a positive note after a difficult start to the campaign.
“It was important about the game and getting the right result,” he added. “We’ve
made some really good strides as a team and as a club.”
Bruno Fernandes also marked the occasion by equalling the Premier League assist
record with his 20 th of the season, a milestone Carrick described as a reflection of the
midfielder’s team-first mentality.
“The way he did it was a really nice moment for everybody,” Carrick said.
He also stressed that United must continue improving to challenge consistently at
the top end of the table, while backing key players including Harry Maguire, Kobbie
Mainoo and Luke Shaw to earn England recognition ahead of the World Cup.
