DUTCH FIGHT BACK TO BEAT NORWAY IN AMSTERDAM FRIENDLY.
The Netherlands came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Norway in
Amsterdam, kicking off their March international fixtures on a winning note.
Ronald Koeman handed a surprise debut to Kees Smit, but it was Norway who
struck first, as Andreas Schjelderup curled home a fine effort midway through the
first half.
The Dutch responded strongly, piling on the pressure before Virgil van Dijk rose
highest to head home the equaliser in the 35th minute.
Momentum stayed with the hosts after the break, and Tijjani Reijnders completed the
turnaround early in the second half, finishing clinically after being picked out by
Denzel Dumfries.
Norway, without Erling Haaland, struggled to create clear chances despite spells of
possession, while the Netherlands came close to extending their lead through Brian
Brobbey late on.
The hosts ultimately saw out the contest to secure a deserved win in front of their
home fans.
