EDWARDS RETURNS AS TIMBERWOLVES EDGE SPURS IN PLAYOFF OPENER.
The Minnesota Timberwolves claimed a 104-102 win over the San Antonio Spurs despite
a record-breaking defensive display from Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama delivered 12 blocks, a postseason record, along with 15 rebounds
and 11 points, but Minnesota held firm late on to take game one of the Western
Conference semi-final series.
Anthony Edwards returned from injury to score 18 points off the bench, while Julius
Randle added 21 points to lead a balanced Timberwolves effort.
“We just want to win ball games,” Edwards said. “I may not be at my best, but I can
make the small plays.”
San Antonio had a chance to steal it at the buzzer, but Julian Champagnie’s final
shot bounced off the rim, sealing a narrow Timberwolves victory.
