FLAGG WINS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AFTER HISTORIC DEBUT SEASON.
Cooper Flagg has been named the NBA Rookie of the Year after a sensational debut
campaign with the Dallas Mavericks.
The 19-year-old secured the award with 56 first-place votes, finishing ahead of Kon
Knueppel, who placed second.
Flagg becomes just the third Mavericks player to win the honour, joining Jason Kidd
and Luka Doncic, while also ranking among the youngest winners in league history
behind LeBron James.
The top draft pick delivered a record-breaking rookie season, becoming the first
rookie ever to score 50 points in a game, and the first teenager to reach that
milestone.
He also set a new benchmark for most 30-point games by a rookie and posted four
40-point performances, surpassing previous teenage records.
Flagg’s all-around impact was equally remarkable, as he became only the second
rookie in NBA history to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals,
matching a feat achieved by Michael Jordan.
He finished the season averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists,
underlining one of the most complete rookie campaigns in recent memory.
