Victor Osimhen is reportedly using his influence at Galatasaray to convince his close friend and fellow Nigerian international, Ademola Lookman, to join him in Turkey.

The Turkish champions are said to be keeping a close watch on Lookman’s situation at Atalanta, with the forward open to a move after falling out of favour in Italy. Galatasaray are eyeing him as a key addition to strengthen their attack, especially with winger Barış Alper Yılmaz tipped for a possible exit in the upcoming transfer window.

Sources in Italy claim that Osimhen has personally reached out to Lookman, encouraging him to make the switch. The Galatasaray striker reportedly told him, “Come to Galatasaray—you’ll enjoy your football again here.”

Lookman’s current season at Atalanta has been far from smooth. Following a failed move to Inter Milan in the summer, tension reportedly grew between him and the club’s management. The fallout led to his temporary exclusion from the squad, with the forward allegedly going on strike in protest of the blocked transfer.

After weeks on the sidelines, the 28-year-old was gradually brought back into the fold—first appearing as a late substitute in a Serie A clash against Torino, and later starting in the Champions League against Club Brugge.

His patience finally paid off when he found the net for the first time this season, scoring a stunning equaliser in Atalanta’s 2–1 win over AC Milan. Lookman latched onto a pass from Mario Pašalić before blasting a thunderous effort into the top corner to cancel out Samuele Ricci’s early opener.

That strike marked his seventh appearance of the campaign across all competitions—a far cry from his explosive form last season. In 2024/25, Lookman was one of Atalanta’s standout players, registering 15 goals and 5 assists in Serie A, alongside five goals and two assists in the Champions League.

Now, with Galatasaray’s interest heating up and Osimhen openly campaigning for his arrival, the move could be a turning point in Lookman’s season. For the reigning African Player of the Year, a reunion with his international teammate in Istanbul might be just what he needs to reignite his spark and regain full confidence on the pitch.
