Nigeria have named a 24-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African play-offs in Morocco, with goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and winger Chidera Ejuke making notable returns.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the list on Saturday ahead of the semi-final clash with Gabon at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat on November 13.

The winner will face either Cameroon or DR Congo three days later for a place in the inter-confederation play-offs.

Okoye, back in the fold for the first time since June, reclaims his spot after strong performances for Udinese, where he has re-established himself as first-choice goalkeeper.

His return follows calls for his reinstatement amid doubts over Stanley Nwabali’s form.

In defence, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Chidozie Awaziem and Semi Ajayi are recalled, though Ajayi remains suspended for the Gabon clash. Captain William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey retain their places.

Midfield options include Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, and Raphael Onyedika, who returns after recovering from a hamstring injury. Ejuke’s comeback offers Nigeria an attacking boost after rebuilding form at Sevilla.

Victor Osimhen headlines the attack alongside Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, and Moses Simon.

However, Paul Onuachu and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro were both omitted despite strong club performances.

Nigeria are bidding to return to the World Cup for the first time since 2018, with the Rabat play-offs set to determine Africa’s representative in the inter-confederation decider.
