OKOYE OUT AS SUPER EAGLES INJURY LIST GROWS AHEAD OF JORDAN CLASH.
Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been ruled out of Tuesday’s friendly
against Jordan after suffering a thigh injury in training.
The team confirmed the setback, stating, “Maduka Okoye has suffered a thigh knock
in training and will not be part of Tuesday’s friendly against Jordan.”
His absence leaves head coach Eric Chelle to choose between Francis Uzoho and
Adebayo Adeleye in goal, adding to a growing list of unavailable players.
Defenders Semi Ajayi and Bruno Onyemaechi have also exited camp, while
Chibuike Nwaiwu had earlier been drafted in to replace the injured Calvin Bassey.
First-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and striker Victor Osimhen were not part of
the squad, with Osimhen still recovering from injury.
Despite the disruptions, Nigeria remains in a positive mood after a 2-1 win over Iran,
with goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams, and could seal the four-nation
tournament title with victory over Jordan.
