NBA PLAYOFFS: OKC THUNDER SWEEP SUNS TO REACH SECOND ROUND.
Oklahoma City Thunder completed a dominant first-round sweep with a 131-122 win
over the Phoenix Suns, sealing a 4-0 series triumph to book their place in the
Western Conference semi-finals.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again led from the front with 31 points and eight
assists, as the defending champions maintained their ruthless playoff form.
“We just came in ready,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “We do it for each other. None of
us are selfish… and when you have that, you get success.”
The top-seeded Thunder now await either the Los Angeles Lakers or Houston
Rockets in the next round, with the Lakers currently holding a 3-1 advantage.
“Ultimately, we’ve got to get better in the days between our next opponent,”
Gilgeous-Alexander added.
Elsewhere, the Orlando Magic moved within one win of a major upset after a 94-88
victory over the Detroit Pistons gave them a 3-1 series lead.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets kept their campaign alive with a 125-113 win
against the Minnesota Timberwolves, inspired by a triple-double from Nikola Jokic.
“We did a good job of bringing the energy for 48 minutes,” said Jamal Murray. “We’ve
got to be poised and relaxed when we go to their building.”
