LOOKMAN STRIKES AS ATLETICO SURVIVE BARCA SCARE TO REACH UCL LAST FOUR.
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman delivered the decisive blow as Atletico
Madrid booked a Champions League semi-final spot despite a 2-1 home defeat to
FC Barcelona.
Having secured a 2-0 first-leg win at Camp Nou, Atletico did just enough to progress
3-2 on aggregate after a tense night in Madrid.
Barcelona stormed into the lead through Lamine Yamal before Ferran Torres struck
to level the tie overall.
But Lookman swung the contest back in Atletico’s favour with a crucial finish,
restoring their aggregate lead and ultimately proving decisive.
Barca dominated late on and pushed for a turnaround, but Atletico held firm, even
after a red card for Eric Garcia, to seal progression.
Diego Simeone’s men maintain their perfect record of advancing after winning the
first leg away, while Barcelona bow out despite their fightback.
